RelPower Plans Rs 10K-cr RE facility in AP
Hyderabad: Anil Ambani-Reliance Power plans to build Asia’s largest solar power and energy storage facility in Andhra Pradesh at an investment of over Rs10,000 crore. The project will also include an integrated solar manufacturing plant, and generate thousands of jobs. The facility is expected to be operational within 24 months of finalising a power purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Moreover, the project will generate over 1,000 direct jobs and an additional 5,000 in the State and contribute to the region’s industrial growth.
Reliance NU Suntech, a renewable energy arm of Reliance Power, will develop a 930-MW solar power plant in Kurnool. With a massive 1,860 MWh battery storage system, the project is set to be Asia’s largest of its kind.
Alongside the solar power plant, Reliance Power will also invest Rs6,500 crore in an integrated solar manufacturing facility. The company is in the process of identifying the required land to the tune of 1,500 acres near Visakhapatnam. Further, the company is about to finalise a site near the Rambili industrial area.
